你好！On May 13, 2013, my best friend Sara and I travelled to Jiufen. The two of us came with our own separate interests; I had never been to Jiufen before and Sara wished to purchase postcards to send back to her friends and family back home in México. The weather in Jiufen wasn't the best when we went, it rained on and off but I think the two of us still had an amazing time. I think the best part of the day was lunch. The two of us found a cheap restaurant on the mountain side and ate outside on the covered terrace. We got two meals with hot green tea and the amazing view of Jiufen all to ourselves. We easily spent most of our time there taking in the view, especially watching all the clouds run through and change the weather in the mountains and on the coastline in only seconds. Afterwards Sara and I continued venturing and exploring, including having a wonderful personal experience for myself and getting to try on "漢服" (Han-fu: a traditional type of Chinese clothing). My first time to Jiufen was definitely a good one!
If you are in Taiwan and are interested in visiting Jiufen, the easiest way to travel is by train. The train station for Jiufen is called "Ruifang/瑞芳" and one ticket is about 50NT per person. From Taipei Main Station, the ride is about 45 minutes. Once you have arrived to Ruifang, you will need to take a bus to Jiufen. The bus Sara and I found is about a five minute walk from the train station. Once you leave the station, take a left on the major road and stay on the right side until you run into a police station. The bus stop is just past the police station, #1062, and the ride is about another 10-15 minutes.
